Baskin
Residential Home-
I don’t know any history of this house or who used to live in it but there must have been a little girl around the age of eight, maybe a little older. Also, a older man and a boy about 17 or 18. One day my sister and myself were riding the 4-wheeler and decided to check this place out. It was the middle of the summer so, you would figure the shut up old house would be hot inside and it was except for one room. We stepped into that room and it felt like the temperature dropped to 40 degrees. We walked through the house looking around and I found a stack of pictures. They were of a little girl, an older man and a teenage boy. I was going to take one of the pictures of the little girl home with me. As we were walking back to the 4-wheeler my sister said, I don’t think you should take that picture. I asked her why and she told me to look at the window of the old house. When I did, I saw three people. A teenage boy on the left, the older man in the middle, then on his right was the little girl. I looked real close at the old man, and he had this weird grin on his face. I threw that picture back on the porch and said, I’m sorry, you can have it. My sister and myself ran to the 4-wheeler scared to death and left there fast as we could. A few days later we decided to go back but this time we took a friend with us to see if it was just our imagination or was it really haunted. Until that day, I didn’t really believe in ghost. Our friend experienced the same thing we had with the rooms temperature change only this time only the little girl appeared. I stood there looking at her in amazement or maybe it was shock. After this we stayed out of there. We would ride by on the 4-wheeler but wouldn’t go back inside. At least not till my brother and sister-in-law were visiting, we all decided to go visit the old house again with Momma. We piled in the car and away we went. Once getting to the house we realized just how dark the night was and none of us had brought a flashlight. Fortunately my brothers cell phone had a small flashlight built into it so by the light from his cell phone we tip toed into the house. My brother walked in first with Momma on his heals, then my sister-in-law, then me at the back of the line. First time for all of them to be there and my first time at night. What happened next was my brother yelling get out and he didn’t have to tell Amanda nor me twice. Didn’t know she could run that fast in high heels that she was wearing for some reason. We were in the car before we realized my brother and Momma hadn’t come out yet. It seemed like forever before they came out and when they did and got in the car they told us what happened after we left them behind cause Amanda and me high tailed it outta there. When my brother opened the door to the room that was always cold is when he gasped at first at what he thought was his own reflection in a mirror but quickly realized it wasn’t a mirror when an older man came charging at him. He jerked the door to that room shut and that’s when he yelled get out of here. They told us after we were in the car leaving that Momma was saying what was it I want to see but my brother wasn’t having no part of it. As they were trying to make their way out, all of a sudden his cell phone went completely off. They were standing in total darkness as my brother was trying to get the phone back on so they could see their way out. My brother told Momma what he had saw and they both just knew when/if he got the phone light to come back on the old man was going to be right there with them. Well, it never would come back on and they finally felt their way out of the house. Once we were all in the car leaving the phone came back on just fine. Momma and my brother were baffled at how we got out of that old house so fast without tripping over something and breaking our necks in the dark cause they said they banged into things and had to feel their way out. Guess the unknown can make you light on your feet cause I don’t remember running into anything. Later on I mentioned we should go back again and my brother said, the only way he would go back was in the day time. That’s about all I can tell you about this house because I’ve never been back. This is a true story.

On Swan Lake Road, also known as Ju Ju’s road there is a ghost of an old black man sitting on a stump watching the cars go by. It has been said that back in the early 1900′s the man was hung due to racism on the tree at which he sat on. Many people have said that late at night if you drive on Ju Ju’s road your car will die and your cell phone will lose it’s signal.
